Stating that waste collection in the coastal belt was not happening properly as before, ex-waste minister and Calangute MLA, Michael Lobo said the department head and the waste minister should look into the matter.
Lobo also stressed the need to appreciate the work done by outsiders who are mainly engaged in the collection of garbage in the State.
“People who collect garbage are outsiders. They are actually the ambassadors of waste management. Will any Goans do this job? There are some political parties who want to drive them (outsiders) away. Some people abuse them. They do good work. We need to appreciate their work,” Lobo said.
He further said that waste is found dumped on the road side and almost everywhere around the State. “The situation is not the way it was before. We can see waste in every nook and corner in the State. The minister and the department head should focus on this,” he said.
