PANAJI
It’s final. The North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) notified and put in operation the controversial ‘Outline Development Plan 2025’ for Calangute and Candolim.
The controversial ODP which evoked widespread protests in the two coveted touristic villages was notified by NGPDA member-secretary R K Pandita on Wednesday. The notification says it comes into operation with immediate effect and is subject to the provisions of ‘The Goa Land Development and Building Regulation 2010’ as amended from time to time.
The brainchild of Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo, who represents Calangute and is also the NGPDA chairman, the ODP which is the first ever for the Calangute and Candolim villages is being opposed by Calangute’s former sarpanch Joseph Sequeira.
Sequeira was not available for comment but sources close to the Congress politician said the plan will be challenged in the Bombay High Court.
Copies of the ODP, meanwhile, will be available for public inspection at the NGPDA office in Panaji and also at the panchayat offices in Calangute and Candolim.
