After a nod from the High Level Empowered Committee, the government has granted its approval for filling up 902 posts in the police department, including those of Superintendent of Police (SP) and other officer ranks.
The home department’s under secretary Neetal Amonkar issued the order which will pave the way for promotion of officers already due for higher designations as well as fresh direct recruitment.
The home department’s order okays additional 902 posts, including three Superintendents of Police, 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police, one deputy administrator, 36 Police inspectors, 240 Police sub-inspectors, one lady nurse, 210 assistant sub inspectors, 240 head constables and 120 police constables.
The posts also include office staff including an office superintendent, eight accountants, 12 UDCs and 18 LDCs.
The order says the department will cancel the barbers, dhobi, sweepers and 69 other posts once they fall vacant.
The police department in its proposal had earlier demanded five posts of SPs, 13 DySPs, 60 PIs, 300 PSIs, 250 Assistant SIs, 300 head constables and 300 police constables.
To study such proposals from its various departments, the government had constituted the High Powered Empowered Committee. Now after the green nod of the committee the government has granted its approval for the 902 posts.
