PANAJI

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the government will recruit around 2000 additional staff in Goa Human Resource Development Corporation in the next two years.

Presently, there are around 2800 employees recruited under GHRDC.

Speaking at the foundation day ceremony of GHRDC, Sawant

said Manohar Parrikar with his vision had formed the GHRDC and till date it is providing good service.

He said along with health, police and fire service frontline workers, GHRDC personnel were also providing a helping hand in tackling the Covid pandemic.

Lauding the Corporation for becoming self-reliant, Sawant said in future there will be a programme to upgrade the skills of the employees. The government will also facilitate those who wish to complete their higher education. These employees will then be in a position to work as LDCs, computer operators etc, he said.

Sawant said in the future, the government will lay emphasis on educating unskilled personnel in the Corporation so that private sector could also benefit from this.

WATER FOR ALL: In his speech at Old Goa after garlanding the statute of Mahatma Gandhi, Sawant said his government had been successful in providing tap water to 100 per cent households in Goa. This had been done either by the public water systems or private water sources under the 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme.
