Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Tuesday said the government has set in motion the process to establish a health centre at Benaulim.
After launching the hot-mixing works in Benaulim at a cost of Rs 6 crore which will cover all the internal roads in the constituency, Churchill said the health centre will come up at Benaulim on the land belonging to the Provedoria. He said the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has already taken the decision to hand over the land in question from the Provedoria to the health services, saying the notices will be issued to the encroachers illegally occupying the government land.
“The health centre is a dire necessity for the people of Benaulim constituency. We do not have a health centre in our constituency. Our people have to either go to Cansaulim or Chinchinim for their health needs,” Churchill said, adding that the health centre has been proposed by him in Benaulim to meet the requirements of the constituents.
The Benaulim MLA said development works initiated by him in Benaulim constituency will soon see the light of day. “I have taken major works in the constituency including the de-silting of the Colva creek, construction of changing rooms and toilets at Colva, the under pass at Seraulim railway crossing, the construction of the bundh near the Orlim Church and various other works,” he said.
To a question, Churchill said he is firmly opposed to Goa being converted into a coal hub, demanding that the MPT should be made a cruise terminal to save the environment as well as to generate jobs for the locals.
