Govt stalls bio-mining of waste at Sonsodo

Wants Fomento to put in place concrete plan to address issues

MARGAO
In an interesting development, the government has made it clear that bio-mining of the existing waste dump at Sonsodo by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) will not resume till Fomento comes out with a concrete plan to address the entire gamut of issues affecting Sonsodo.
In fact, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday said the government and Fomento will have a dialogue after December 19 and before Christmas how to go about resolving the Sonsodo imbroglio.
Ruling out the possibility of resuming the bio-mining work at Sonsodo in the immediate future unless Fomento comes out with a power point presentation how to address the issue
"The Chief Minister has told me that there's no point in resuming work of bio-mining at Sonsodo by the GSIDC when dry waste from the treatment plant is continuously dumped on the existing dump," Sardesai said, adding that the government and Fomento will have a dialogue between Decembe 19 and before Christmas to resolve all outstanding issues.
Work on the bio-mining by the GSIDC appointed contractor was scheduled to commence in December, but the government has now decided to wait for Fomento to come out with a comprehensive plan to resolve the issue.
