MAPUSA
Deputy Speaker and Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza said the government’s decision to acquire the Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank (MUCB) property adjacent to the government complex in Mapusa will pave the way for the construction of a new administrative building, Bardez Bhavan.
D’Souza welcomed the decision, stating that the acquisition would enable the government to develop a modern facility where all administrative departments could function under one roof.
“It is a good decision by the government. The land is in a prime location and I had earlier proposed either the renovation or construction of a new administrative building, Bardez Bhavan,” D’Souza said.
He emphasised the need for a new administrative structure, citing the deteriorating condition of the existing building. “Acquiring this land and adding it to government property will help in implementing a well-planned project for the entire Bardez region. The current structure is very old, and I had suggested bringing all government departments under one roof to ensure smooth coordination,” he added.
D’Souza further stated that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured him that the project will be fast-tracked.
