Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has warned to blacklist all those contractors who fail to repair the sub-standard roads free of cost.
Sawant said that Engineers India Ltd has been asked to submit a detailed report on road conditions.
Sawant reiterated that as per the tender document, the contractor has to repair the damaged roads free of cost and accordingly we had issued show-cause notices to all such contractors.
"If they fail to do so, we will blacklist them," he warned.
The Public Works Department (PWD) had earlier issued an ultimatum, warning that if repairs aren’t completed before Ganesh Chaturthi, the government will take over and recover costs from contractors’ payments.
PWD Principal Chief Engineer Uttam Parsekar also confirmed that many contractors had already begun patchwork after receiving show-cause notices. While weather has posed challenges, Parsekar emphasized that delays won’t be tolerated, especially with the festival approaching.
