Margao MLA Digambar Kamat on Friday said the government will quickly tender the repair work of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, and ensure it is completed soon.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a programme at Ravindra Bhavan, Kamat said the PWD (Buildings) has already sent three files with estimates to the office of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who also holds the PWD portfolio, on Thursday.
He said the remaining two files related to electrical works will be sent to the CM’s office on Friday or Monday.
When asked, he said the government will tender the works early next week after giving administrative approval. “The Chief Minister has given clear directions to the PWD officials that delay will not be tolerated as far as the preparation of estimates are concerned. Accordingly, the PWD, Buildings has sent three files to the CM’s office on Thursday,” he said.
Asked if the work will be completed before the IFFI festival, Kamat said, “There’s still time for the IFFI festival. We are looking for the execution and completion of the work at the earliest so that the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao is made available to the artists at the earliest.”
When asked about the ownership of Ravindra Bhavans in the State, Kamat said, “All I know is that the management of the Ravindra Bhavans across the State is done by the Art and Culture Department. May be the PWD has not handed over the Ravindra bhavans after their construction pending completion of formalities.”
