The St Andre Congress block has highlighted the pathetic condition of the pedestrian underpass near GMC hospital and sought action from the authorities concerned.
Addressing reporters at the underpass at Bambolim on Friday, Congress leader Mohan Dhond informed that the underpass is stinking as cow dung, urine and other waste are lying around. “Hundreds of patients, their relatives, students and others use the underpass on a daily basis, and they have to bear the unbearable stink when they use the underpass to go to GMC and vice versa,” Dhond added.
He further demanded that the authorities concerned, like the PWD, should take cognisance of the matter and clean the underpass.
Further, Dhond highlighted a discrepancy in the blockades that have been put up to prevent cattle from entering the underpass. “While on one side the blockades have been installed, on the other side they are absent, thereby providing free access to the cattle,” Dhond pointed out, while stating that on the side where the blockades are installed the gap is huge, which allows easy access to the cattle.
“We demand that blockades have to be properly installed on both sides so that cattle don’t enter and the underpass remains clean,” Dhond demanded.
St Andre Congress Block President Manoj Palkar, Women President Sunita Pednekar, Youth President Terence Picardo and Goa Velha panch Mayur Dhond were present.
