The 14th Goa Marathi Film Festival (GMFF) will be held on 9-10 August at INOX and Maquinez Palace, Panjim, showcasing over 15 films, including award-winning and unreleased titles for Goan audiences.
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who is producing a Marathi film, is expected as chief guest, while Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will attend the opening ceremony at INOX on 9 August at 9:30 am.
Veteran actor Dr Mohan Agashe will receive the Krutadnyata Puruskar for his lifetime contribution to cinema and theatre.
Films include Sthal, Ghaath, Gharat Ganpati, Ata Thambaycha Naay!, Paani, Kurla Te Vengurla, Dharmasya, Snowflower, Cineman, Gulkand and April May ’99. Artists like Prasad Oak, Sonali Kulkarni, Chhaya Kadam, Subodh Bhave, Sai Tamhankar and others will interact with audiences, providing an opportunity for film lovers to engage directly with their favourite actors.
Goan short films Karz by Sharv Shetye and Ek Cup Cha by Kishore Arjun will also be screened. A workshop on AI in content creation by visualdub.ai will be held on 8 August, open to all filmmakers and content creators.
Online registration will open soon on the Burraa app and website, with in-person registration from 20 July at Vinsan Graphics (Panjim, Vasco), Mohak Designers (Ponda) and Maya Book Stores (Margao).
