With a consistently poor response to the matric and post-matric scholarships from the State’s Scheduled Tribe (ST) student community, the State government has proposed to launch a campaign to create awareness about the scholarships in the community across the State.
Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldesai said, his department has been disbursing these scholarships but was not getting a satisfactory response from students belonging to the ST communities.
He said, the department has therefore decided to hold awareness campaigns across the State, particularly areas where there is a concentration of ST population so that students become aware and come forward to apply for the scholarships.
