After tasting success with the Swayampurna Goa project, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has now decided that his government will partner with the State’s top educational institutes in bid to use their expertise in resolving various issues affecting the State.
Sawant said the government will request the institutes to study and prepare reports on specific issues and suggest ways on how to go about in tackling them.
“We decided to partner with Goa’s premier institutes to work on State specific problems such as human capital development, education, agriculture, rural development etc. They can provide us suggestions and we can utilise their expertise for Goa’s development,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister chaired a meeting and held deliberations with heads of top educational institutions such as the Vice Chancellor Goa University, Dean of IIT Goa, Director NIT, Director Goa Institute of Management and Director BITS Goa campus.
Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel (IAS) and Secretary for Education Ravi Dhawan (IAS) were also present.
Sawant advised the institutional heads to identify five areas of expertise which will be examined by the State government and accordingly decide to partner with them on common areas of interest and priority.
“These institutes have been submitting reports on various issues in the State. This time we have suggested them topics on different issues. They will study and give us the report by way of suggestions in one month and we will use their expertise,” he said.
The heads of these top academic institutions spoke about their expertise in various fields and offered to work with the State government with the ideas proposed by the Chief Minister.
“This arrangement will be mutually beneficial. The State will benefit from top quality research work from these institutions while the institutes in turn will benefit from working on the real life problems of the State,” Sawant said.
