Launching an offensive against the anti-CAA-NRC-NPR agitation, the State administration on Thursday filed an FIR against the social arm of the powerful Catholic Church on a complaint quaintly filed by an office bearer of a lay Catholic body, the Catholic Association Goa.
The FIR has been registered against the Council for Social Justice and Peace (CSJP) and National Confederation of Human Rights Organisation (NCHRO) by the Women’s police station at Panaji on the charge of exposing children to aggressive language and issues of political ideologies and consequently exposing them to psychological abuse.
Two days ago, a complaint citing these perceptive
allegations was filed by one Emidio Pinho.
Pinho had alleged in his complaint that “children were misused” by the organisers
of the massive anti-CAA rally held on January 24 at Lohia Maidan in Margao.
Interestingly, Pinho also runs an NGO which reportedly works on women and child safety issues and collaborated with the State government and the Goa Police to develop a go-to android app which reportedly serves as a helpline for women and children in distress.
Pinho is also vice-president of the Catholic Association of Goa (CAG) for North Goa.
The FIR against CSJP and the other NGO which it collaborated with to organise the anti-CAA-NRC-NPR rally in Margao was registered by Police Inspector Sudiksha Naik, who heads the Women’s Police Station.
