Three young women who drove down to Goa from Mumbai for a holiday had to undergo a harrowing experience at the hands of an angry young man, who smashed their car which accidentally landed in his property due to GPS failure.
The accused Richard De Souza (32) of Arpora was arrested by Anjuna Police.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening.
Police informed that three young women from Mumbai drove down to Goa in their chauffer-driven Toyota Land Cruiser car and landed in Arpora where they had booked a bungalow.
The car which was following directions to the bungalow through the GPS tracking system by mistake entered in the wrong property owned by Richard De Souza.
Upset with the ‘foreign’ visitors De Souza picked up an argument with the young tourists and in retaliation picked up a metal rod and damaged the front windshield and the rear windshield and the spoiler of the car, causing damage worth Rs 5.50 lakh.
And all this happened with the women inside the car.
On receiving a complaint, Anjuna police arrested the accused under Sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 336 (endangering human life), 504 (breach of peace), 427 (causing mischief), 506(ii) (threaten) of the IPC.
