The Global Romi Lipi Abhiyan (GRLA) has demanded that the Congress and Goa Forward take the initiative towards the formation of a grand Alliance in Goa in the forthcoming Assembly elections in 2027, if they are serious about defeating the BJP government.
GRLA president Kennedy Afonso said that Congress party leaders Amit Patkar and Yuri Alemao, should convince their High Command of the need of forming the alliance in Goa since this has been the demand of the people of Goa.
He further demanded that the opposition parties draw up a common Manifesto, like scrapping of Article 17 B, ban on Coal and other environmental issues, including the adopting the Inner Line system for non-residents proposed by Goemche Fudle pidghe khattir, can go a long way to safe guard Goa.
“The inclusion of Romi Konknni into the Official language Act,and in schools curriculum must also be one of the salient points on the Common Manifesto. About 39 years has passed , Romi Konknni is being neglected, and this election we need to all stand unitedly to form a government that will resolve this language issue for good. It’s now or never , and we appeal to all opposition parties to come together as one to protect Goa”, Afonso added.
