GRP cops in a fix after new DGP’s parking instructions
PANAJIThe instructions of recentlyjoined Directed General ofPolice Mukesh Kumar Meenanot to allow any staff vehiclesinside the Goa Reserve Policeheadquarters campus haveforced around 100 staff workingin the campus to resort todouble parking on the roadoutside.The DGP is presently residingat the quarters on thecampus as a temporary makeshiftarrangement. As per theinstructions of the new DGP,the police personnel are notallowed to park their vehiclesin the parking slot inside thecampus. As there is no otheralternate
arrangement forparking, the personnel areforced to park their vehiclesoutside the campus.“In a police complex, thereshould be proper arrangementfor parking of police personnel.If we police personneldo double lane parkingon roads what example willwe set for the public?” questionedthe police personnelworking in the GRP complex.Indian Police Service (IPS)officer Meena has takencharge of DGP of Goa in July2020 after his transfer fromMizoram.The parking of vehicles isalso an issue for police personnelworking in the Panajiheadquarters. They too haveto park outside as privatevehicles are not allowed inthe campus.
