PANAJI: Goa State Co-operative Bank (GSCB) became the first co-operative bank in India to launch Aadhar based mobile ATMs. These mobile ATMs are like point-of-sales (POS) machines. However, these mobile ATMs allow people to use their Aadhar number to do banking transactions, even if they are not carrying a debit or credit card.
An official of GSCB said, “We are the first co-operative bank in India to launch such mobile ATMs. As of now, we have procured 100 such machines. These machines will be available both at our bank’s branches and also at the shop of traders.”
The official continued, “Using this machine, you can just put your Aadhar number and then it will ask you to select your bank. After that, you will put your finger, which will be for verification. The merchant using this machine will also be given a password.”
Meanwhile, this machine also accepts card based payments just like any other POS machine. In short, it uses both biometrics and cards for payments
