The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has written to the Tourism Department seeking the establishment details of the 31 villas and apartments by the Vianaar Construction Pvt Ltd (La Olalian) located at Sebastian Vaddo, Anjuna, which were into commercial operation.
The Board on Thursday had issued show cause notice to these villas and apartments for operating without establishing sewage treatment plant and Consent. In a notice issued, the Board has asked the unit/ establishment to pay penalty under the Polluter Pays Principal to the Board for the aforesaid violations.
The GSPCB on Friday wrote to the Tourism Department seeking details regarding the registration of these establishments for initiating further action.
The Board found that the units were operating without the valid Consent to Operate of the Board as required under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and as the establishment/ unit was being operated without a Sewage Treatment Plant.
The Board has asked the Vianaar Construction Pvt Ltd to show cause within seven days as why the supply of electricity and water of the units or apartments should not be disconnected.
