Continuing with its effort to provide amenities to tourists visiting the North Goa beach belt, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to construct a modern toilet block which will have an independent sewage treatment plant in Baga.

The toilet project at the end of the Tito's lane will be second such facility in Baga, as the coastal village has one public toilet facility constructed a year back.
The project which will come up on the beach also provides the facility of shower and locker rooms for the visitors to the beach.
The toilet project which is estimated to cost Rs 1.40 crore and built on an area of 400 sq mts will have separate compartments for ladies and gents.
The ladies toilet block will have five toilets, four shower rooms, four hand wash, one mother care room and one locker room facility.
Similarly, the gents block offers three toilets, seven urinals, four shower rooms and one locker room.
The toilet and changing room facility is being constructed under the Swadeshi Darshan Scheme.
A GTDC official said the uniqueness of the project was that it will have its own sewerage treatment plant and the water utilized in the toilet block will be recycled.
The official further disclosed that nearby shack owners will be able to connect their toilet outlet to the STP of the GTDC toilet block.
"We have got permission from all the agencies concerned and the work on the toilet block will kick start from September 4," said Pramod Badami, Chief Engineer of Goa Tourism Development Corporation project cell.
Calangute MLA, Michael Lobo said he wants to focus on basic infrastructure in the coastal belt and building toilets along the coast was his idea.
"We have constructed such toilet facilities in Calangute and Baga. We now plan to construct such toilet projects in Candolim, Sinquerim, Baga Tito's (lane), etc," the Calangute MLA said.
The toilet facility will also have adequate provision to allow handicapped persons to use the facility.
