Guard sent to 2-day police custody

MAPUSA: A GHRDC security guard accused of allegedly attempting to carry suspected narcotic substances into Colvale Central Jail has been remanded to two days in police custody by the Mapusa JMFC court.

The woman guard was intercepted during mandatory security checks at the prison, following which police allegedly recovered suspected contraband from her possession. The seized material is suspected to include ganja and charas, though its exact nature and quantity are yet to be determined.

Police are probing how the alleged contraband was brought into the jail and whether the guard was acting alone or was allegedly part of a larger network operating from within or outside the prison.
