Goa on Wednesday became the first State in India to achieve hundred per-cent coverage of homes with tapped water supply under the Har Ghar Jal mission, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has claimed.
Sawant’s claim was also endorsed by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat who tweeted a congratulatory message to the people of Goa for the achievement.
“Congratulations Goa on being the 1st State to achieve 100% #HarGharJal certification,” Shekawat tweeted.
“May you inspire all States to follow suit towards realising our PM @narendramodi Ji’s dream of providing clean tap water to every household in the country,” Shekawat added.
Earlier in the day, Sawant had taken to twitter to announce Goa’s 100% certification under the Jal Jeevan Mission of the Union Jal Shakti Ministry.
“Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, and with support and guidance of Union Minister of Jal Shakti Shri @gssjodhpur ji the Public Works Department, Goa implemented the mission, bringing the Tap Water Connection to every household in Goa,” Sawant said in the tweet.
