Harvester aids Bicholim farmers
BICHOLIM: Introduction of novel techniques in farming have once again boosted the morale of youNG farmers from Bicholim taluka, who once were not ready to undertake farming.
Farmers from many villages in Bicholim taluka collected paddy with the help of harvesting machine. The farmers can gather paddy simultaneously when harvesting activity is in progress.
The machine performs the harvesting task at one end, while at the other end it also chooses the paddy and releases it out through a pipe.
The farmers are charged Rs 2000 for two hours by the zonal agricultural office. However, ZAO authorities also give a discount. The use of this machine saves labour cost. However, this machine is not useful in a farm which is marshy.
This year, many farmers from areas like Mayem, Pilgao, Bordem, Karapur, Sal, Dhumacem and Kudchirem made use of this machine to harvest their winter paddy crops.
