In the absence of a block Committee in place, activities of the Congress party in Margao are being literally conducted by former Margao Municipal Chairperson Savio Coutinho and his team.
The party leadership may have to answer a contentious question sooner rather than later “ has the party any plan in place to allot a definite role for Savio and his team as they engage with the Cong-turned-BJP MLA and seasoned political campaigner, Digambar Kamat.
In fact, a host of questions are being asked in political circles how the party will go about in Margao in 2027, whether the party will nominate a candidate from the minority community or is on the job to scout for a formidable candidate from the majority community to take on the might of Kamat in the coming election.
Political observers say that it is in the interest of the Congress that the leadership take a call on this issue and convey the decision to the ticket aspirants well in advance.
