Amid police crackdown on the drug trade, owner of Curlies was out on bail within hours after his arrest, raising suspicion whether police are serious in cracking the whip against narcotics.
Within 48 hours after the death of two tourists suspected to be due to overdose, police had arrested eight persons including the owners of Curlies and Nyex.
Surprisingly, six of the eight were granted bail, while the operator of Nyex and the person, who was caught with drugs in his premises, are in custody.

Sources told The Goan that Nunes' bail was obtained within hours and his release was delayed till late Tuesday night only to keep it away from the prying media.
Meanwhile, the bail plea of Rohan Shetty, operator-cum-manager of Nyex Club, came up for hearing in Sessions Court, Panaji, on Wednesday.
The court has reserved its judgment for Saturday even as Shetty has been remanded to one-day police custody.
While raising objection to Nunes' bail application, police said the Curlies owner was involved in drug trade and his presence in custody was required to find out if more of his staff were involved in the trade, which appeared shallow and unconvincing.
"We tried our best to get his custody but since the quantity of narcotics found in the possession was very small, he managed to get bail," Anjuna PI Rahul Parab said.
He further said Nunes has to report to the police for at least three days and later as and when required.
"The Curlies owner was called to the police station and interrogated today. Some other persons were also called for interrogation," PI Parab added.
DySP Mahesh Gaonkar told The Goan that police efforts will continue to probe and arrest those who are involved in the drug menace.
In Curlies case, he said it was a bailable offence and since the quantity of drugs found was small, nothing much could be done.
