More than four months after walking out on bail, the Luthra brothers suffered a major setback on Tuesday as the High Court of Bombay at Goa cancelled their bail in the nightclub fire case that claimed 25 lives last year.
The Court directed them to surrender within two weeks.
Besides Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, the nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane’s partner Ajay Gupta’s bail has also been cancelled.
While granting the trio liberty to apply for fresh bail, the Bench of Justice Neela Gokhale directed the trial court to decide any such applications within two weeks of their filing.
The State government, in May, had challenged the bail granted to them by the Additional Sessions Judge at Merces in April while also seeking revocation of bail granted in the alleged no-objection certificate forgery case. The brothers had escaped to Thailand hours after the massive blaze on December 7, 2025 but were subsequently deported to India and arrested by Goa police the very same month.
Police chargesheeted 13 accused in the fire case, alleging gross criminal negligence, disregard for human life and failure to comply with statutory safety norms.
