All the 19 private hospitals are yet to receive amounts prescribed under the scheme for procedures conducted in their hospitals. The State government has already paid the initial installment of the payment to the insurance company, United India Insurance Pvt. Ltd. It has been revealed that the company has, however, not made payments of claims made by hospitals.
Speaking to The Goan, Dr Shekar Salkar, specialist at Manipal Hospitals confirmed that the payments had not been made, but added that the service was not stopped.
“The insurance company is yet to make the payment for claims by the hospital, but despite that, we have not halted services under the scheme to patients,” he said. Hospitals have, however, written to the insurance company with a warning to make the payments.
The health department has also been alerted of the situation.
