Hit-and-run at Parra leaves two seriously injured

Two persons were seriously injured after a four-wheeler allegedly rammed into their scooter in a head-on collision at Parra on Saturday morning. The driver of the car fled the scene after the accident.

According to Mapusa police, the accident occurred around 7.15 am in front of a shop at Parra.

The Goa-registered car was travelling from Nagoa towards Mapusa when its driver allegedly drove at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, colliding head-on with a scooter coming from the opposite direction.

The impact left the scooter rider, Mohammed Manihar (42), a resident of Colvale, and pillion rider Ayub Idrishi (39) of Parra seriously injured.

Police said the car driver fled the spot without stopping to provide assistance to the injured.

Mapusa police have registered a case against the unknown driver under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 184, 134(a) and 134(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Further investigation is in progress.
