Holi revelry subdued in Mapusa

Holi revelry subdued in Mapusa

MAPUSA

Although there has been improvement in the Covid situation, the Holi celebration was somewhat subdued in Mapusa and surrounding villages in Bardez.

Only one public event of Holi revelry was organised at the Lohia Maidan garden near the taxi stand but the attendance was comparatively low.

However, youngsters had their bit of fun organizing small gatherings at various junctions taking part in the festival of colours and dancing to the beats of recorded music.

The Covid outbreak and the resultant curbs had dampened the spirit of several celebrations for the past two years.

However, this year the celebration of Holi was expected to be on a much bigger scale.

A group of youngsters under the banner of ‘Sound Waves’ organized rang utsav at the main Lohia Maidan garden in Mapusa where children and youth participated with gusto dancing to the tune of DJ music.

From Khorlim to Gaunsavaddoo and Cunchelim to Morod, small groups of youth sprinkled colour on each other and participated in the Holi celebration.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that clubs and hotels along the North Goa coastal belt have arranged Holi celebration parties during the weekend.
