The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) is seemingly training its guns on small food businesses, many of who have sprung up by seizing the opportunities thrown up by the disruption of established restaurant businesses in the sector in the pandemic.
The FDA has asked all such food business operators whether roadside eateries, food cart vans or home-based businesses to register under the FSSAI laws.
Fast food suppliers, tiffin suppliers and even Goa's traditional bakers, colloquially known as 'poder', including those using social media platforms to market their food products, have also been mandated to register.
"Register if not already done," says the fiat from the FDA.
The FSSAI website foscos.fssai.gov.in can be used to register and obtain the licenses, it adds.
