The Goa government on Saturday made a fervent plea to the Homeopathic Medical Association of India (HMAI) to take up the challenge and pool its efforts to work out a solution to the endemic problem of kidney disorders in the state's southern taluka Canacona through alternate medicine of homoeopathy.
As the two-day 20th All India Homoeopathic Scientific Temper hosted by the Goa unit of the Homoeopathic Medical Association of the India got underway at the Ravindra Bhavan here on Saturday after the inauguration by TCP Minister, Vijai Sardesai.
Homoeopaths urged the Goa government to set up a homoeopathic medical college, set up dispensaries across the state and also offer incentives to new doctors taking up alternate system of medicine.
In his address, the TCP Minster made an appeal to the homoeopath doctors to make concerted efforts for diagnosing the Canacona endemic kidney disorders.
"I think that this is one issue where the conventional medicine has no clue. Successive governments have come and gone, but the Canacona kidney issue has remained unresolved. Neither are the departments concerned able to offer a solution to the problem," he told the gathering.
Sardesai pointed out that investment in medical colleges and health education should help the government and society overcome certain endemic problems. "Given the failure of the conventional system of medicine to solve the problem, I feel that homoeopaths should try to resolve the issue with alternate medicine, which is in harmony with nature," he said, adding "you will not only make a big favour, but do a big service for the government and the people of Goa".
Earlier, secretary general of IMAI Dr S I Hussain made an appeal to the Goa government to set up a homeopath college in the state to cater to the needs of the students and patients availing alternate system of medicine. While underling the need to offer incentives for alternate system of medicine, Dr Hussain called upon the government to set up homeopathic dispensaries across the state and give boost to alternate system of medicine. Dr Ketan Bhatikar, who was the guest of Honour, also spoke.
The seminar will lay special emphasis on kidney disorders like renal failure and renal calculi, wherein doctors will present cases where homeopathy was used to effectively treat such disorders.
