Newly elected Pernem MLA Praveen Arlekar on Thursday directed officials to hotmix the Pernem service road before the last week of April.
Arlekar was speaking to reporters after inspecting the ongoing work at the NH66 highway between Dhargal and Patradevi.
Company officials involved in the maintenance of the road, Dhargal Sarpanch Bhushan Naik, social workers Krishna Palekar and Jayesh Palekar were also present.
Locals claimed the service road was being constructed without taking locals and local panchayats into confidence. They claimed that former deputy chief minister Babu Ajgaonkar and then PWD minister Deepak Pawaskar had inspected the road several times but there had been no significant developments since then.
"The quality of work between Dhargal and the Patradevi border is not up to the mark. I have asked company officials to hotmix the service road before the last week of April and they have agreed to it," said Arlekar.
