Gold, cash and a high-valued Rolex watch were reportedly burgled from a house at Pontemol Curchorem on Monday night. The incident is reported to have occurred between 7.30 pm and 11 pm while the family was out for a wedding ceremony at Sanguem.
Sources informed that while the family members were out, some unknown persons reportedly entered into the house by breaking open the door on the first floor.
The burglars ransacked all cupboards inside the house on the ground and the first floor and stole all cash, gold ornaments and a Rolex watch, which was recently brought by a family member from abroad.
Immediately on receiving information that the house is broken open by unknown persons, the house owner rushed back home from the wedding ceremony and lodged a complaint at the Curchorem police station. Family members claim the value of stolen goods at about Rs 40 lakh.
Acting on the complaint, the police begun search operations and also pressed the police dog squad into service, but could not find anything incriminating as of now. Curchorem Police are investigating the matter.
