CANACONA
The house belonging to the fisherman family, Parwati Chikoo Pagui is made up of mud walls and roof tiles and had gone weak over the years and torrential rains for the past week triggered the collapse, when the aged woman was lying down on a bench in the verandah.
The son and his wife, who were reportedly inside, came running out on hearing the sound and took their old mother to safety, as two children were away at the nearby school, informed sources.
The family informed that their ancestral house situated close to the shore is in the property belonging to a landlord and even the repair of the house cannot be undertaken due to ongoing litigation with the landlord. “The son working on a fishing trawler, Umesh Pagui is now idle at home,” a family member told The Goan.
“I have now approached the Canacona Mamlatdar to come to our rescue or else my family will be thrown in the rains, if my house is not repaired,” said the family member.
