A house was gutted in a fire at Fondakwado, Parra, in the early hours of Wednesday. The incident occurred around 2.30 am when neighbours heard a loud sound from the house belonging to Vincent Fernandes and noticed flames.
They alerted the police, who informed the Mapusa fire station. By the time a fire tender and police team reached the spot, the entire roof was engulfed in flames. The roof, furniture and other household items were destroyed.
Firefighters later brought the blaze under control. Officials said the electricity connection to the house had already been disconnected, ruling out a short circuit as the cause. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
