A Haryana-based construction firm has bagged the tender to construct 22.1 kms of 4-laning at two different sections of the NH66 at a cost of Rs 594.18 crore.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) issued the Letter of Award (LOA) dated January 20 to Bhiwani-Haryana based M/s Kaluwala Construction Pvt Ltd to construct the 4-Laning from Benordem till the start of Canacona Bypass (14.69 kms), and from the end of Canacona Bypass to Polem (7.41 kms) on NH66 highway.
This landmark infrastructural project, covering approximately 22.1 kms, will connect Canacona to other parts of Goa, and is largely expected to significantly reduce travel time, alleviate traffic congestion, and boost local economic growth.
The MoRTH has further asked the bidder to form an appropriated Special Purpose Vehicle incorporated under the Indian Companies act 2013 to execute the Concession Agreement and implement the project and further to execute the concession agreement within 45 days from the date of issue of LOA with chief Engineer (NH, R&B), Public Works Department-Goa.
The bidder is required to give a performance security with bank guarantee of Rs 29.70 crore which is 5% of the Bid Project Costs and Additional Performance Security of Rs 35.805 crore within 30 days from the date of signing of Agreement.
Stating the works are expected to begin soon after completion of official procedures, Sports Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar said, “This project will not only boost economy of Canacona but will also make a significant contribution to health, tourism and education sectors of Canacona.”
