The Legislative Assembly on Friday passed the Goa (Regulation of Film Shooting Bill) 2021 which provides a single-window clearance system and also imposes terms, conditions and penalties, in a bid to regulate film shooting in the State.
There is a provision to recover losses for damages caused by the film shooting agency at touristic places or places of archaeological importance.
There is also a provision for penalty or punishment with imprisonment which may extend to three months or with fine which may extend to Rs 5 lakh or with both for violating provisions in the Bill.
The state is expected to generate significant revenue by way of fees collected from the film shooting agencies.
Those undertaking any film shooting in the State will now be compelled to obtain a film shooting permission from the competent authority as may be designated by the government by a notification,” states the Bill.
