Under the “Mhaje Ghar” initiative, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that the government intends to regularize all the unauthorized dwellings in a bid to grant them protection from demolition as ordered by the High Court.
Sawant appealed to citizens to take benefit of the circular that enables regularisation of old houses constructed before 1972 and shown on the survey plans under the Goa Land Revenue Code. He said that the application forms for the process will be made available from September onwards.
He also urged the public, likely to benefit from the circular, to keep all their documents ready to obtain Settlement Land Certificate from the Deputy Collector and a Structure Regularization Certificate from the concerned Panchayat or Municipality.
“Under Mhaje Ghar initiative, the government has taken various decisions to regularize unauthorized houses. The government intends to regularize all unauthorized dwellings so that they don’t reel under fear of demolition,” he said.
The government, last month issued a circular that came into force on August 1, wherein all the old houses built before 1972 and are depicted on survey plan would be regularized. Such houes will be treated as settled land and will not require fresh conversion sanads at the time of reconstruction.
Applicants will have to pay a fee of ₹1,000 and submit supporting documents including Form I & XIV and Form D. Once verified, the Deputy Collector is expected to issue certificates within a week.
To qualify, the house must be reflected on old survey plans prepared between 1970 and 1972 and should occupy at least 25% of the plot, with the total holding not exceeding 1,000 square metres.
The CM also informed that the Bills pertaining to Regularisation of Unauthorized Constructions on the government and comunidade land will come into force shortly, providing further relief.
Meanwhile, CM laid the foundation stone of the new building of the Pali-Kothambi Panchayat, which is being constructed at a cost of about Rs 5 crore, in the presence of Pali-Kothambi Sarpanch Santosh Naik, ZP Member Gopal Surlikar, panchas, and locals.
He informed that work on the six panchayat buildings has been completed in Sanquelim constituency.
“Although the construction of this panchayat building in Pali was delayed due to land issue, the matter has been resolved and the panchayat building will be erected within a year,” said Sawant.
The two-storeyed building will have shops on the ground floor, an office on the first floor and a hall on the upper floor.
The chief minister also inaugurated a garbage shed in the Naveli Panchayat.
While addressing the gathering, he lamented that many people continue to dump their garbage by the roadside.
“However, a new law has been implemented and anyone caught throwing garbage will receive a steep fine,” said Sawant.
