The Goa Board has now postponed the Semester I examination for Grade 9 to October, to coincide with the common exam scheduled for students from Grade 3-8. The exams which were initially set to commence from September 23, will now be held from October 7 onwards.
The Board has said that the decision is taken following the request from Goa State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) and the Headmasters Forum pointing out that the examination should coincide with the common examination scheduled for students from Grade 3-8 in October. The Common exam to be conducted by SCERT is set to commence from October 9.
The Board has made it mandatory for schools to have CCTV cameras installed in the examination centres or classrooms. The examination will conclude on October 14.
This is the second year of implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for Grade 9. The Board frames the question papers for both the semesters and accordingly, it has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for schools and students to follow, akin to the protocols observed for the Class X and XII public exams.
While the question papers will be framed by the Board, the answer sheet corrections will be carried out by the schools themselves. The semester theory paper would be out of 40 marks while the practical and assignments comprise 60 marks.
Starting this year, SCERT will conduct two Common Summative Examination for students from Grade 3-8, in view of implementation of NEP from this academic year. The exam will be held simultaneously through a common timetable and through question papers framed by SCERT.
The SCERT has said that the two common summative examinations are compulsory for all the students and any lapses in this regard will be reviewed seriously.
