The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) last year (2024-25) disposed of 405 cases and reduced pendency to just 81 cases.
As on April 1, 2024, there were 361 cases pending before the human rights panel and another 125 complaints were filed before it throughout the year, adding up to 486 matters of alleged human rights violations.
“Of these, 405 cases were disposed of, with recommendations made in 18 of these. As on March 31, 2025, the number of cases pending stands at 81,” the Commission said in its annual report.
During the year, the State government provided a grant-in-aid of Rs 6.23-odd crore to the Commission, of which it spent Rs 2.92-odd crore to defray the expenses incurred for its functioning.
