After being on the run for six days, the husband involved in the murder of his wife in Arpora found himsef in police net.
The accused, Sukhwinder Singh (32) was nabbed late Thursday night from a Chandigarh hotel and brought to Goa on Friday, the police said.
He was arrested after he confessed of murdering his wife by slitting her throat, police said.
He has been remanded to ten days police custody.
It may be recalled the body of a woman tourist was found in a pool of blood after the housekeeping staff opened the apartment room in Arpora on April 26. Police suspected that the husband had murdered her and accordingly launched an intense probe to nab him.
Multiple police teams were formed and sent to various locations where the accused was suspected to be hiding. During the course of investigation it was revealed that the accused had left the apartment room in the wee hours of April 22 and thereafter left for Delhi, police said.
Accordingly a police team from Anjuna visited the IGI airport in Delhi and through CCTV footage found that the accused had traveled in a taxi to Chandigarh from the airport.
Subsequently police conducted raids at the native place of the accused at Chandigarh and Kapurtala. “Based on technical analysis and painstaking efforts of the police teams, his location was tracked near Ludhiana bus-stand. Later with the support of the local police he was traced to a hotel from where he was apprehended and brought to Anjuna police station,” said Pankaj Kumar Singh, SP Crime Branch.
The SP said that the husband-wife duo had a heated argument on the fateful day resulting in a fight after which the accused husband slit her throat with a knife. Police said that soon after he confessed of having committed the crime and the accused was placed under arrest.
Meanwhile Anjuna PI, Navlesh Dessai said the autopsy report of the victim stated that she was killed by a sharp weapon.
