I’m on for 2017, but will open card at right time, says Khot

Amid speculations that he would contest the forthcoming assembly poll on Congress ticket or Congress-led ‘mahagathbandhan’ former Canacona MLA Vijay Poi Khot said the ‘card’ would be opened at an appropriate time.

CANACONA

According to reliable sources, two-time BJP MLA Vijay Poi Khot had a lengthy meeting with Congress party Goa observer Digvijaya Singh during the latter’s ongoing visit to the State.
Poi Khot, who acceded to the demand by hundreds of his close well-wishers gathered at his residence on Sunday, reiterated his intention to contest the poll.
“At this moment, I can only say that I am contesting the forthcoming election, but beyond that I cannot say anything now,” he said.
When pressed further, Poi Khot said: “Nothing is final at the State level. Neither the BJP-MGP alliance is finalized nor so-called Congress-led mahagathbandhan is in sight. In this scenario, how can I decide on my move?”
Poi Khot’s close-door meeting with Digvijaya Singh, reportedly brokered by former chief minister Digamber Kamat, has led to speculations that the former MLA would either be Congress candidate or could represent NCP or Goa Forward Party, all depending on what alliances are worked out before the election.
