I never said sound pollution along coastal belt was a farce: Env Minister

PANAJI:

Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira has decided to personally monitor and put things in place. The Minister never said that the sound pollution along the coastal belt was a ‘farce’ as reported in the news paper but said that during his surprise visit, he never came across any club/pub play loud music.

I am surprised to read this report in the news paper stating that I have said this to a reporter. The fact is that I have not been interviewed by any reporter on this issue in the recent past.

“I never said it was a farce. I had gone to the belt… even my officers were not aware…I am not sure, if the driver of the taxi I hired informed them (units in the coastal belt)… throughout the belt...I did not find even one place playing loud music…believe me.. I had taken one reporter with me.,” he said. I said and repeat, that is painful that the Hon’ble High Court has had to monitor this issue.

“I will be going again shortly. Give me some time and I will put things in place,” he added.
