Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate who has switched three parties in three months on Friday said that though there is criticism for his move into the BJP, in future people will judge him after his performance in the next two years.
I was just a traveller in Congress party for two months, said Monserrate.
“Critics are always there I never bother about critics. Criticism is not my concern. I have changed party in interest of my people and constituency. As I had said it earlier and I reiterate the same thing again that don’t judge me at the beginning of my tenure but judge me at the end of it,” he said.
Monserrate said that development is one of the major reasons for his decision to change party and added he will shoulder any responsibility given by the CM or the BJP. He also said there is no rivalry with the candidate who fought against him. During elections, I see them as opponents but after elections are over I don’t keep any rivalry, said Monserrate.
“I have never harassed any BJP worker in 17 years of my political tenure,” said Monserrate, adding, “I feel like at home now in the BJP.”
While criticising Congress leaders he said that opposition leader of congress himself has walked out from the party. Now only four people who are former chief ministers are left in the party. These people never allowed Congress to form the government, he added.
