A dispute over the quality of a gola (ice candy) turned violent at a consumer shopping-cum-exhibition at the SGPDA grounds in Fatorda on Friday night, prompting police intervention after bottles and other items were hurled during a brawl.

Broken glass from bottles was found strewn across the ground near the stall where the altercation between customers and stall staff took place.

Fatorda police detained three persons for breach of peace and advised the stall owner to lodge a formal complaint.

According to a police official, the dispute began when customers expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the gola they had purchased. The argument soon escalated into a physical altercation, during which bottles were allegedly used as weapons, leaving some persons injured.

Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
