The 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) would be held in Goa between November 20-28 in hybrid mode.

Announcing this, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar released regulations and the poster for the 52nd edition of IFFI.

The much-awaited announcement from the Union IB ministry came amid doubts and scepticism on whether the film festival would be held or not, as the predictions of a third wave in September are floating in the air.

The 51st edition of IFFI which was scheduled in November 2020, was postponed due to the pandemic and later held in January 2021.

So, this year, technically, cine lovers would be enjoying two IFFIs, one which was already held in the beginning of the year and the second is happening in coming November, in a similar fashion -- hybrid mode.

IFFI, Asia’s oldest and India’s biggest international film festival, gathers much crowd, both from India and abroad and Goa being its permanent venue since 2014, the State awaits eagerly for this annual event to happen. The 52nd IFFI will be held in a hybrid format considering the success of the 51st edition in January 2021. Organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with the State Government of Goa and the Indian Film Industry, IFFI is recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).

Every year, the festival celebrates some of the finest cinematic works and showcases a bouquet of the best films from India and around the world. The call for entries for participation in the competitive section of the 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India will remain open till August 31, 2021.

On the occasion of the birth centenary of the maestro of Indian cinema Satyajit Ray, this time the Directorate of Films Festivals, Ministry of I&B, will pay a tribute through a Special Retrospective at the IFFI.

Also, the ‘Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Cinema’ has been instituted from this year.

The 51st IFFI, it may be recalled was held between January 16-24 this year in a hybrid mode for the first time due to the ongoing pandemic.

The festival delegates had the option of participating and watching films and other events virtually from their homes. A total of 224 films from across the globe were screened then.

The event was broadcast on DD India and DD National channels and was live-streamed on PIB’s YouTube channel youtube.com/pibindia.

A selection of 23 feature and 20 non-feature films were showcased in the Indian Panorama section. Goan movies were screened under a special Goan section.
