In an interesting turn of events over the tussle to control the affairs of the Anjuman Islahul Muslameen (AIM), Margao, the Inspector General of Societies (South Goa) has restrained the parties to the dispute from functioning as the Managing Committee of the Society till the next date of hearing on October 14.
The Inspector General of Societies, South, Kiran Mesta has further directed that both the parties shall not do any acts or represent the Society in any matter including any financial and administrative transaction. The records of the Society shall not be tempered and/or interfered with, by any of the parties, he further directed.
The interim order shall operate until the next date of the hearing which is fixed on October 14, 2025, at 4:30 pm in the chamber of the District Registrar (South) housed at 2nd Floor, "D" Wing, Osia Complex, Margao.
Both parties have been directed to remain present for the hearing, failing which the Inspector General of Societies has said the matter will proceed ex parte.
The Inspector General of Societies has given the interim order in view of the complaint filed by complainant Imtiyaz Bepari, who has claimed to be the founder member of Anjuman Islahul Muslameen, Margao against Respondent Ashraf Pandial, President, Anjuman Islahul Muslameen.
In the complaint, Bepari has raised a host of allegations against Ashraf Pandial to declare himself as the President of AIM for a fourth consecutive term.
The complainant has alleged that the headmaster’s cabin is also being unlawfully locked.
Though the Inspector General of Societies had fixed the hearing on October 14, he has now restrained the two parties from functioning as the managing committee of AIM considering the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment in an educational institution, where records need to be preserved and student futures safeguarded. “It's crucial that internal disputes among committee members don't hinder the educational process. Also records of the Society require to be maintained without any dishonest tempering or unlawful interference. After considering the submissions of the complainant and reviewing the records, this Authority believes it necessary to issue interim directions pending the parties' appearance before this Authority on the earlier notified date i.e October 14, 2025 at 4.30 pm,” the order stated.
