Illegal construction at Industrial estate: Cuncolim council slammed for show cause to unknown

MARGAO

The Cuncolim BJP has slammed the Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) for issuing a show cause notice to an “unknown person” in respect of the well dug up outside the Cuncolim Industrial estate.

At a media briefing by former MLA Clafasio Dias and BJP Cuncolim Municipal councillors, it has been decided to make a representation to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to order an inquiry into the illegal construction.

The former MLA further said he would make a plea to the Chief Minister to order SIT probe into the illegal well that has come up on the Cuncolim Sociedade land.

Clafasio demanded to know why the Cuncolim MLA & Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao has still not inspected the illegal well outside the Industrial estate.

“Yuri’s own workers had requested the MLA to inspect the site within six days, but the MLA has not made it to the site to date. On the contrary, instead of bringing the culprits behind the illegal well to book, the Cuncolim Municipal Council has issued a show cause notice to an unknown person,” he charged while demanding that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant order a detailed inquiry into the construction of the well.

“People of Cuncolim were expecting the Cuncolim municipality to pin down the person involved in the construction of the well. But, the CMC has preferred to send the notice to an unknown person,” he charged.

BJP councillor Vishal Desai stressed the need to stop pollution at the Cuncolim industrial estate, saying the fish processing units and the fish meal plants are emanating foul odour, causing a nuisance. He has demanded action in curbing pollution, fearing the foul odour will affect the NIT located very close to the Cuncolim industrial estate.
