Five panchayat secretaries in Sattari taluka will face action for failing to submit compliance reports on illegal constructions in their areas.

The Directorate of Panchayats (DoP) has issued show-cause notices to 98 panchayat secretaries across the State, following directions from the High Court of Bombay at Goa. Reports state that the High Court had directed authorities to carry out an inquiry and take action against officials who failed in their duties.

Acting on these orders, the DoP issued notices to the concerned secretaries who did not submit reports on illegal constructions in their jurisdictions. Out of the 12 panchayats in Sattari taluka, five ” Thane, Savarde, Pissurle, Morle, and Guleli ” are included in this action.

Senior DoP officials said that in some cases, reports were submitted to the court but not given to the designated nodal authorities. These are being treated as non-compliance. Claims of partial compliance in some cases are being verified.

The directorate has said that disciplinary action will be taken against those found guilty. Work is also underway to prepare a consolidated report on illegal constructions across the State, including details of notices issued, demolitions carried out, and pending cases.
