Within 15 days, officials of the mines and mamlatdar’s office conducted two raids on illegal sand extraction in Camurlim in Bardez.
On Friday, 80 cubic metres of sand were seized in an early morning raid at Bharanwada in Camurlim. Similarly, 125 cubic metres of sand were seized from the same spot on January 1.
All the sand that was seized was later disposed of in the river with the help of a JCB.
Joint Mamlatdars Rajaram Parab and Bhiku Gawas along with Camurlim panchayat talathi Vivek Korgaonkar conducted the raids.
